New Year’s Day Celebration

New Year’s Day is an essential holiday throughout Latin America, with Honduras being no exception. At NPH Honduras our children celebrated the new year by participating in group reflection about the previous year and goal setting for 2017. They also participated in plenty of games!

College Graduation

Ana Vallecillo, pictured here with NPHI Board President, Reinhart Koehler, came to NPH in 1994 as a young girl and graduated from the National Autonomous University of Honduras with a degree in Microbiology!

Annual Beach Trip

Every year the boys, girls, and the youngest children load the buses and travel to the beach. The trip is another way in which NPH Honduras works to ensure the children feel part of a larger family. Family road trips are an exciting part of their lives!

Painting Talanga Comedor

Talanga (a small city 25km from the ranch) is home to a local soup kitchen and daycare center that NPH Honduras helps sponsor. Beyond fiscal support, the NPH youth often help with the upkeep and recently spent a day giving the building a new coat of paint.

Catacamas Home Opening

NPH Honduras celebrates the opening of our new home: Casa Mi Esperanza (House of Hope). Located in Catacamas, a small city 125km northeast of NPH, the new house serves as home for children in emergency situations. Also, the First Lady of Honduras participated in the opening ceremony!

Mini Congress Winner!

In July, NPH Honduras’s Estefano* won the regional “Mini Congress Infantil 2017” (Small Children’s Congress 2017) event held in Rancho Santa Fe. In winning first place, Estefano continued to Tegucigalpa for the nationwide competition and met the president and first lady.

Honduran Independence Day Parade

On September 15th NPH Honduras celebrated the 196th year of national independence by participating in a massive community celebration! NPH youth danced, played instruments, and marched through the festivities with grace.

Día del Niño

Celebrated in September, “Día del Niño” is an annual celebration at NPH Honduras. The Honduran National holiday is a time for teachers, caregivers, and (in our case) volunteers to honor the children for their hard work over the past year.

Meeting the Cardinal of Honduras

In August, NPH Honduras pequeños had the chance to meet the Cardinal of Honduras, Óscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga, during confirmation mass. Over 20 of our children received the holy rite of confirmation on this day!

Olympiadas!

Each year all of the NPH homes host a celebration of Padre Wasson's birthday involving team competitions with all of the children and employees. In 2017 NPH Honduras celebrated with spirit and joy!
